I offer both face-to-face and online telehealth consultations.
As part of the process, we will talk about your medical history, your current concerns and any health and wellness goals that you may have. Some of the questions that I will ask include things like your digestive health, sleeping patterns, energy levels, diet and mood.
Many people are unsure what to expect from a naturopathic consultation, and how this may differ from seeing your family GP. Medical doctors have traditionally focused on the treatment of the symptoms of an illness or disease. They typically have a limited amount of time to spend with their patient. Naturopaths, in contrast to this, are more focussed in the underlying cause of an illness or infection. This is informed by a holistic ethos which views any illness as an imbalance in the body, with the goal of naturopathy to assist the body to heal itself. This is achieved via a number of non-invasive natural therapies, treatments and approaches, include dietary and supplement advice, herbal remedies and lifestyle recommendations.
Consultation with a Naturopath
A consultation with me will be longer than one you may have experienced with your GP, with the initial visit often taking from 1 to 1.5 hours. This is because a thorough assessment of your health status needs to be made, examining all aspects. Subsequent sessions are likely to be for a shorter period, depending on the condition experienced. The following steps will generally form the basis for any naturopathic consultation:
Ø Health profile – I make a thorough assessment your case history, in an attempt to identify the root cause of your health problem/s
Ø Dietary and herbal advice – dietary advice is based on your current health and lifestyle, and the I will draw on herbal medicine, as well as vitamin and mineral supplements to maintain or restore optimal health
Treatment
I offer a range of treatment options including the following:
Nutritional and lifestyle advice
Herbal medicine
Homeopathic remedies
Health and Wellness mentoring
Similar to your consultation with a GP, all the personal information you provide to me is held in the strictest confidence.
